About CF Global

Our story

CF Global began as a group of parents in the UK. Our children have cystic fibrosis, and from 2016 to 2019 we watched a new generation of medicines, CFTR modulators, sit out of reach because of Vertex Pharmaceuticals' extortionate price tag. Frustrated and desperate, we set up a buyers club to help families import a generic, demanded that our government break Vertex's patents, and campaigned until the NHS made a deal.

Our battle was over, but then we looked around. Kaftrio/Trikafta was available to our children and to almost nobody else. Most of the 188,000 people with CF around the world still had no access. In 2020, we started Vertex Save Us to change that, and campaigners from South Africa, Brazil, India, Poland and dozens of other countries joined us.

As the campaign expanded, so did our ambition. In 2023, we partnered with Just Treatment to launch Right to Breathe. Alongside Third World Network, we approached Beximco Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh with a proposal: make a truly affordable generic.

Since then, we have empowered CF families to speak out, pressed Vertex, supported court cases and patent challenges, and pushed governments to act. In June 2026, the first patients collected Triko from Beximco in Dhaka, at 96% less than Vertex's price.

In September 2026, we changed our name to CF Global, because the fight is no longer about one company. It is about every government and health system that could act, and every person with CF who deserves access to treatment, wherever they live.

Who we are

We are cystic fibrosis patients, family members and campaigners with one thing in common: we believe everyone with CF deserves access to the best treatment available, wherever they were born.

CF Global grew from a grassroots campaign led by parents of children with cystic fibrosis. Today, our community includes people with CF, parents, families and campaigners from around the world, alongside clinicians, researchers, patient organisations and other allies, working together to demand change.

Our members and supporters come from more than 60 countries and territories, including Australia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Ecuador, England, France, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Montenegro, Namibia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Northern Ireland, Norway, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Swaziland, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, the USA, Uzbekistan and Wales.

We work with individuals and organisations who share our commitment to equitable access to CF medicines. Just Treatment is a key partner in our work. We also work with global allies including Third World Network, Health Justice Initiative, Medicines Law & Policy, HealthGAP and the Brazilian Interdisciplinary AIDS Association.

CF Global is an independent, grassroots movement. Our strength comes from the people with CF, families and campaigners who are building this movement across borders.

What we're doing now

We are doing two things at once: empowering CF families to push governments to secure access to lifesaving medicines, and helping people access treatment while they wait for governments to act.

Right to Breathe

Right to Breathe is the global campaign dedicated to access to cystic fibrosis modulators, launched by Vertex Save Us and Just Treatment in 2023. It brings together people with CF, families and advocates around the world to demand cystic fibrosis medicine for every patient, everywhere.

The campaign works with CF patients and families in countries around the world to push their governments to secure access to Vertex's medicines or affordable generic treatments, and is supported by numerous CF associations, including in Brazil, France, Germany, Lithuania, South Africa, Switzerland, Turkey and the Middle East.

So far, campaigning has helped win full or partial access to Trikafta in multiple countries. We have challenged Vertex's patents in India and elsewhere, pressed the South African Competition Commission to investigate the company's conduct, and succeeded in having a CF treatment included on the WHO Essential Medicines List for the very first time.

CF Buyers Club

Many countries allow people to import medicines for their own personal use. The CF Buyers Club, which we established in 2019 and relaunched in 2025, helps people with CF and their families through this process safely and legally, while pooling resources to make treatment more affordable.

Triko, Beximco's generic version of Trikafta, costs $6,375 a year for a child and $12,750 for an adult, and much less than this using dose-sparing strategies. Bexdeco, a generic version of ivacaftor for people who need it on its own, costs $5 per tablet.

For now, Beximco's medicines are supplied on a named-patient basis. Details of how to order them can be found on the Buyers Club website, where patients, families and clinicians can also register their interest: cfbuyersclub.org.

We believe that nobody should have to import their own medicine. But until governments and health systems act, it is the difference between treatment and no treatment for people who desperately need access now.
